Christmas just keeps creeping closer and closer, so in the spirit of Christmas I offer you good will and happiness in the form of the Super Eurobeat 193 Review....

Ugh... Never again.

Thank god I've found somebody who hates this album as much as I do (especially the DeJo song). :\ Second worst album I've heard since the 120s IMO (when I started listening to eurobeat) right behind 168.

Haha, I remember you already posted this same review in the SEB 193 thread ages ago! :P

One review I didn't particularly agree with (which I usually am on the same opinion as Bore)! VKTRS is one of my favorite tracks from 193 and I would have rated it a 8 or 9, myself. I did agree with ratings for other tracks like Ike Ike and Space Boy....meh on those tracks.

To me, SEB 193 was in the best albums with SEB 195... But the time goes the more I think The Never Ending Story would have needed an Euro-Italo cover instead of a full fledge Eurobeat song...

The only reason people seem to like 193 is the sheer fact that these are remakes of old classics. Once you see past that and view them as just typical eurobeat songs, you'll see that there's really nothing special about them whatsoever.

The reason I believe 193 was so bad (in my humble opinion, of course) is that the theme was VERY specific and not every label had a decent repertoire of remakes, which meant that Avex was forced to accept nearly every song made for this compilation irrespective of how stellar or horrendous they were. In other words, there was no form of 'quality control' on this album, so to speak.

With 195 (which we all agree was much better), Avex was spoilt for choice as every label has a massive repertoire of speedy songs, and as a result there were far more stellar songs to pick up.

I still see a lot of specials about them.

The only 3 songs that I still come back to are Tina Ray, Lou Hunter and of course, David Dima's remake of the Duran Duran classic, which up untill now is the best Eurobeat cover of a pop song I have ever heard.

Hah, this makes me want to go on another TYTFIL binge (Dejo's version). I admit the crazy weird high-pitched stuff in the background annoyed me at first, but I don't even notice it anymore. It's become my favorite song of the 190s. XD

The same thing happened to me when Bore posted his 195 review, I just had to go back to hear how "bad" Burning Like Fire was and ended up playing it for god knows how many times.

just the fact that Bratt decided to rerecord the song was an atrocity in itself. Noone can touch the Gino Caria classic. The high pitched effex was all the more reason to hate it.
